Fighting in school
Well it was between 2 kids. There was some small horseplay in the hall that I saw just outside of my classroom. I told them to get up and go inside. Inside the classroom, there was a fight between two boys. (boy #1 and boy #2). Both boys were screaming at each other in Korean. I had no idea what the fight was about. But since I was the only teacher in the classroom, I acted by putting myself in between them and trying to split them up. Some of the kids tried to help me. At one point, when I was blocking boy #1 he got his friends to cheer him on, and since i was trying to make sure boy #2 wouldn’t attack, boy #1 walked around the other way and stands on top of the desk and tries to kick boy #2! Some how boy number two only got a small kick to the chest but niether were terribly hurt. After that I was able to fully separate them with the help of the kids and the co-teacher had come in. Boy #1 had just been taken outside by his friends, to cool off. The co-teacher asked me if there had been a fight. She listened to both sides of the kids in Korean. And then took the two boys who fought to the teacher’s office and took care of discipling them. The co-teacher had to go to go to the bathroom before class, so that’s why she wasn’t present. Both of the kids had at least a head on me in height. I also was trying to get them to stop with what Korean I knew and the rest English. It was just plain old scary. Luckily, nobody got serioulsy hurt. The rest of class was sort of ok but a little noisy at the end.
